Memorial Day
Memorial Day ~ Gather
In Celebration. In Remembrance. In Gratefulness.
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces. It is observed on the last Monday of May. Across the country, people celebrate through parades, family gatherings and ceremonies at cemeteries and memorials.
The National Moment of Remembrance is an annual event that asks Americans, wherever they are at 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, to pause for a duration of one minute to remember those who have died in military service to the United States.
When we gather and celebrate Memorial Day, why are we celebrating? We are celebrating the joy of the freedom we have in this country. Freedom we would not have, if not for those fallen who fought to keep us free. In their honor we gather, we celebrate, we remember and give thanks.
