Tea Pairings

Tea Pairings

Bonjour and welcome back!

When Paris In A Cup Tea Salon was open, we had guests who would switch their tea choice with each course.

It was always fun to see what teas they chose for pairing with the foods they were eating.

You can do this at home at your own tea. You’ll need one pot for each tea flavor and a teacup per person for each flavor.

May we suggest:

Keep it simple. Keep it small. Make it fun.

Sweeter teas go well with desserts.

Lighter teas and fruited tisanes are good with salads and fruits.

Full-bodied teas are good with scones and other baked goods.

Black teas are fine for main dishes like meat and pasta. Stay away from heavily scented or flavored teas during the main course.

These are just my suggestions. It all boils down to taste preference and of course what you have available.

We often had guests in our tea salon who enjoyed the same tea throughout their entire tea service.

So don’t fret over this. I say keep it simple.

Sweet course: Petit fours, desserts. You will want to keep your tea choice light. Try our Paris In A Cup black tea. It’s light citrus and bergamot make this a perfect accompaniment to desserts. If you prefer something sweeter with your sweets, try our Muir et Rose black tea. It’s a lovely blend of blackberries and rose petals.

Savory Course: Tea sandwiches, small savory bites, cheese. Green tea and black teas go great with heavier foods. Lightly scented or flavored won’t overpower the tastes and flavors. Green tea is good for digesting heavier foods like meat and pasta.

Our Cherry Blossom Green tea sencha with cherries and orange blossom petals is the perfect match.

Scones: Scones with clotted cream and jam or lemon curd. You can certainly go a little heartier here. We suggest our Paris Breakfast, a rich full-bodied tea with notes of dried currants and spices.

If you really want impress family or friends, you can take your tea pairings to another level by following guidelines that follow close to the same as wine pairings. A good place to get started is by reading the Tea Pairings in “Tea Time” Magazine. This is one of my favorite tea publication.

You can read more about tea parings and get some great menu ideas by subscribing to “Tea Time” Magazine.

Don’t leave yet! There’s more to read . . .

Below you’ll find three new teas to our growing family of Paris In A Cup Signature Teas.

Sometimes our busy schedules don’t allow us the time to leisurely enjoy a cup of tea in our favorite chair. Now there’s no reason not to take your “cuppa” on the run. Stay hydrated as you navigate your busy day. You may want to show off your new water bottle at yoga.

Our new April in Paris Glass beverage bottle is just the thing.

When our brick-and-mortar gift shop was open in Old Towne Orange, CA, we often had visitors who had just returned from a trip to Paris and forgot to bring a gift or souvenir back for someone. They would purchase a gift mug or something with a Paris monument on it to give to their recipient to let them know they were thinking of them while they traveled.

New to our “Souvenir” gift selection:

Fleurs De Paris Mug and Gift Box

A colorful Parisian flower cart in front of the Arc de Triomphe on a ceramic mug. Comes with a matching gift box.

The perfect souvenir.

Holds 13.5 oz.

I will be signing off for now. I’m taking a holiday break to visit family and see my new great-grand baby.

When I come back, I’ll have some great gift suggestions for Mother’s Day and a special offer. Stay tuned.

Gather with family.
