Automne (Autumn) Reflections

Le Blog 4

Welcome back!

Labor Day is behind us. The kids are back in school. Why does it seem that this time of year goes by so fast? We just finished the lazy days of summer, and we are headed full steam into fall and the holidays. September and October become a blur.

Maybe we should slow it down a bit. Let’s savor autumn. It’s so short. Shouldn’t it be prolonged?

Let’s enjoy the sunsets with a hot cup of tea. Make some plans. Get a head start on what lies ahead.

One of my favorite “teas” to brew in the evening is our Red Toffee, a rooibos. It’s rich and delicious on its own with its sweet toffee bits, but you can make a yummy after dinner beverage with it as well.  No worry about keeping you awake; rooibos has no caffeine. A scrumptious way to celebrate autumn’s arrival.

Sweet Toffee Latte

2 cups water

6 teaspoons of Red Toffee Rooibos

1 tablespoon of brown sugar (Add another tablespoon if you like it sweeter)

1 cup milk

Whipped cream, as a topping.

Dash of cinnamon

Bring the 2 cups of water to a boil, remove from heat infuse the tea in the water for 5 minutes.

Remove infuser and stir in the brown sugar until it’s dissolved.

Heat 1 cup of milk until just simmering. Slowly pour the warmed milk into the hot tea. Stir to combine.

Pour into mugs

Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Makes 2 generous servings. Enough to share and a short refill.

I’m glad you’re enjoying a little respite before the hustle-bustle of the holidays comes upon you.
